The European combine will face off against HEROIC on Saturday.

The second day of the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 playoffs is underway, and we have gotten our third semi-finalists. GamerLegion have defeated Monte in a dominant two-map series (Mirage 16-10, Overpass 16-3) to set up a semi-final against HEROIC on Saturday and continue their fairytale run at the Paris Major.

Nicolas "⁠Keoz⁠" Dgus, who was adopted as a home-crowd favorite due to previously playing in the French scene, joined James "⁠BanKs⁠" Banks for some quick post-match thoughts. "I honestly fucking love it," he exclaimed when he was asked about the crowd. "We just played like it's just another day, but with this crowd it was even better and easier to play. I'm even more ready for tomorrow," he concluded as GamerLegion look ahead to the HEROIC semi-final matchup.

iM continued his breakout performances with a 1.78 rating in the series

Monte have surprised many to even make it to the quarter-finals, with the majority-Ukrainian side beating the likes of Natus Vincere, FURIA, and fnatic on their way to the top eight. Their stage debut was far from ideal, considering many people had them as the winners against GamerLegion.

"We didn't have the fire to win this game, I think," Viktor "⁠sdy⁠" Orudzhev said when asked about what went wrong for his team. "We did too many mistakes, ones that you can't make at this level, but I'm still so proud of the boys. Also props to GamerLegion, they played insanely well," he graciously admitted after the loss.

The match started on Mirage, where the opening half was as close as possible at an 8-7 scoreline. The second half was dominated by the GamerLegion side, though, as a Mihai "⁠iM⁠" Ivan-powered offensive half meant they ran out 16-10 winners. The Romanian rifler had a lights-out performance, sporting 34 kills and a 1.89 rating on the map.

Overpass was up next, a map where GamerLegion had a 92% win rate coming into the match. The map was one-way traffic all the way through, as Monte could muster just three rounds in their defeat, with one of them being a full-USP round. GamerLegion outcalled and outshot their opponents and are a deserved semi-finalist, but their next test will be much tougher.
